Rajesh Shringarpure goes bald for his role in COLORS’ Khoob Ladi Mardaani Jhansi Ki Rani
COLORS’ is all set to revive the story of Rani Laxmi Bai with its upcoming historical drama ‘Khoob Ladi Mardaani – Jhansi Ki Rani’. The show will highlight the journey of an ordinary young girl, Manikarnika(Anushka Sen), an unknown commoner who rose to become Jhansi’s legendary queen by leading the warfare against the Britishers. Essaying the role of Manikarnika’s father, Moropant, will be the talented Marathi actor Rajesh Shringarpure. While we have often seen actors go an extra mile to potray their characters with conviction, Rajesh Shringarpure took a bold step to get the character look on point. The actor decided to get bald in real life instead of using prosthetics especially for this character.
A strong and determined man, Moropant is devoted to the Peshwas. He believes in freedom struggle and doesn’t get daunted by any hurdles. While he shows the tough side of his personality to everyone, he has a soft emotional side in the form of a loving father. Focused and strikingly gutsy in his approach, he is initially seen by Manikarnika as someone who never questioned the status quo, but only to later realize that he is a krantikari.
Speaking about his new bald look, he said, “Although I was skeptical of going bald at first, the magnitude of my character required a reverential look and therefore I decided to take this step. Being a part of this magnum opus, Khoob Ladi Mardaani Jhansi Ki Rani is matter of great pride for me and I hope to play my character with full conviction. There are different shades to my character which will unfold with time and I’m sure viewers will like to watch that transition. The lens through which the show highlights the journey of Manikarnika is beautiful and I can’t wait for viewers to watch it.”
Produced by Contiloe Pictures, the show will go on air on COLORS
