Udit Narayan reveals the story behind his hit song Ruk Jaa O Dil Deewane
The ever-green singer spills the beans behind the making of this song on Sa Re Ga Ma Li’l Champs
Surprises are something that one can’t resist and contestant Pritam’s happiness knew no bounds when Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs decided to surprise him and bring his favourite singer and idol, Udit Narayan to spend a musical evening with all. The upcoming episode of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs will make you nostalgic and take you back to the 90’s era with some great music and fun. The Udit Narayan special episode will see the contestants putting their best foot-forward as they sing some beautiful songs of the musical maestro adding their own style to it.
The evergreen singer was all praises for the kids and encouraged them to continue their good singing. After contestant, Mohammad Faiz’s sang a magical rendition of Udit ji’s superhit song Ruk Ja O Dil Deewane, the veteran singer had a sweet story to share behind the making of the song. Not many know that Udit Narayan sang this song in one single take! And that’s not all, he struggled to get the song right because he had ticked off legendary director (Lt) Yash Chopra Ji and music directors Jatin and Lalit at that point. Well, we are curious to know what happened, aren’t we?
Sharing the memory, Udit Narayan said, “I clearly remember, I had to reach the studio at 2’o clock for my recording but instead reached at 6 in the evening. The entire crew, music directors Jatin-Lalit and Yash Chopra Ji were all very miffed with me for being late. The only way I could cheer everyone up was by singing perfectly. When I took to the mic, I couldn’t sing properly and this further worsened everyone’s mood onsets. Jatin and Lalit tried to explain to me the situation and I was very stressed and troubled because I couldn’t lose the chance to sing for Shah Rukh Khan and Yash Chopra Ji. It came to a point where they decided to tell me to leave and wanted to look for another singer. I was stressed, nervous, scared all at once. I locked myself in a room and asked for God’s blessings. When I stepped out of the room, I walked up to Yash Chopra ji and asked him to give me a last chance. He eventually gave me that chance and that’s how the song came into being. I sang three antra’s and it was a one-take song. By God’s grace, it turned out to be great.”
Well, that’s something interesting that the musical maestro shared and we deeply love and admire him for all that he has achieved!
During the course of the episode, Udit ji also shared something interesting about the film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. When he was approached for the song Main nikla Gaddi leke, the phenomenal singer told the director that he would sing this particular track only if he was signed up for all the other songs of the movie. Well, that did happen and Udit Ji received accolades for his remarkable singing for this film.
Moreover, Udit ji’s songs from the ’90s refreshed everyone’s mind and kicked in a sense of nostalgia. Judge Amaal Mallik expressed his love and gratitude for the legendary singer and was extremely happy to be judging alongside him. Contestant Pritam’s performance to Jaadu Teri Nazar impressed all thoroughly. Sugandha Date’s performance to Chand Chupa Badal Mein created a beautiful atmosphere. Moreover, Shaan and Udit Narayan shared some great camaraderie as they performed to their popular song Do U Wanna Partner entertained everyone. The episode will account for oodles of entertainment and fun when the cast of the much-awaited film, Tashkent Files will visit the show to promote their film too.
