Himanshu Soni and Shivya Pathania play the weight game, dons 15 and 18 kg heavy attire look for their upcoming show in Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush

Costumes are an important aspect when it comes to building any character on television. It adds to the visual aesthetics, making the character more relatable and pragmatic. COLORS’ magnum opus Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush, revisits the era of opulence and grandeur, when Ram and Sita returned from the 14 years of exile. To recreate similar magnificence, costume and jewellery designer Shiba Priya has personally crafted the look with intricate details, giving each character a demeanor that oozes royal opulence.

Reviving the traditions from the holy lands of Kolkata, the designer has brought in elements from Kumartuli the cultural precinct especially for Ram and Sita’s costumes and jewellery. From special cuts of Banarasi saree, Georgettes and Silk to dried seed and flowers from Santiniketan, their look boasts of a rich blend.

Ecstatic about playing Lord Ram, Himanshu Soni says, “To portray the avatar of Ram convincingly, my look has been very carefully conceptualized. Each robe and material designed weighs approximately 15 -20 kgs but carrying this weight doesn’t bother me. The Danush is the most striking part of my look and strengthens the aura of my character. There is a meaning/story behind every fabric, every color and every metal chosen which makes my look complete as Lord Ram.”

Shivya Pathania who is playing Sita expresses, “ Sita’s grace, her elegance has been beautifully depicted through the costumes designed. We have tried to make it as real and authentic which also deeply connects me with the character that is so close to my heart . I’m often draped in lehengas that weighs 18 kgs and more. Every costume and jewellery reflects the powerful and the pious soul of Goddess Sita which adds life to my character and brings to light the nuances of that era.”

Watch the actors don the magnificent look as Lord Ram and Sita on Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush, every Monday to Friday at 8:30 pm starting 5th August, only on COLORS.
