47th Khajuraho Dance Festival Concluded with Great Pomp and Show
28th February 2020, New Delhi: A weeklong forty-seventh Khajuraho dance festival organized by Ustad Allauddin Khan Sangeet evam Kala Academy, MP was concluded. The spectators enjoyed the splendor of Indian classical dances along with the spectacular view of Chitragupta temple.
The evening started with the performance of Shrividya Angara, she performed Mandodari Saptami, describing the marriage of Mandodari and Ravana in Kuchipudi dance style. The lyrics were written by Krishna Dev Rai and presented in Vachika Abhinaya in Kuchipudi Dance style, in Mohan and Kapi raga in Aadi Taal.
The second performance was a duet of Odissi and Bharatnatyam by Enakshi Sinha and Pavitra Bhatt. Her performance was based on Shivam Shakti Ardhangi, which was the Oddisi and Bharatnatyam duo, her second performance was Pallavi in Odissi style Raag Sudha Bilawal. The last performance was Shiv Panchakshra in Manipuri style performed by Sinam Basu. He also presented Basant tagi khonthant(eco of spring) and Basant Raas which is the oldest dance style. The evening ended with the kathak recital by Amita Khare.
The seven-day prestigious dance festival was inaugurated by Vijay Laxmi Sadho, culture minister, Madhya Pradesh. It featured Kathak, Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, and Satriya dance styles. The one-week long festival of Indian classical dance celebrates our rich cultural heritage and the long legacy of these dance styles, which is held annually against the spectacular backdrop of the magnificent Khajuraho temples in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh.
Khajuraho Temples came alive with opulence, grandeur, floodlights, and hustle-bustle by the most spectacular and revered conclave of Indian Classical Dance along with other the manifestation of Art & Cultural traditions of India.
