“Working on a slate of films to offer free to cinema halls”: Anand Pandit
In what can only be described as a tremendous goodwill gesture, veteran producer Anand Pandit is planning to offer a slate of his recently released blockbuster films to cinema owners free of cost, giving them permission to screen the films in their cinema halls. Pandit wants the films to be shown to the public for zero cost. “As we slowly come out of this lockdown, it is my dream to see movie halls running once again. I thought what would be better than give our audiences some free entertainment within their favorite environs of a cinema hall while keeping all tenets of social distancing in mind. My idea is that all cine-goers have to spend on is their popcorn and food.”
While Pandit is waiting for some permissions to announce the names, everyone knows that his roster has some of the biggest hits of recent years.
The veteran producer already has had preliminary conversations with several cinema hall owners and the response has been strong. He intends to meet them soon to work out the details. “We know the hardships cinema owners are going through. We have a very strong understanding of how their business has been impacted. This might be a good way to get many to return to the theatres.” Pandit is ready to share the films immediately and is awaiting the nod from exhibitors.
Anand Pandit often called the man with the Midas touch, is not just a successful producer but a formidable force in the real estate sector. His high end, luxury real estate company, Lotus Developers has developed state-of-the-art residences for the who’s who of Bollywood.
Anand Pandit has collaborated and produced some iconic films under the banner Anand Pandit Motion Pictures. Interestingly he is working with both the Bachchans currently – with Big B in “Chehre” and Junior Bachchan in “The Big Bull” both set to release later this year.
