In this weekend’s episode of COLORS’ recently launched legal- crime drama show, Courtroom- Sacchai Haazir ho, viewers will come across a spine chilling case about a sinister criminal, Sushil Singh who committed heinous atrocities against women without a blink of an eye. His torture went on for years until the vengeful locals gave him a taste of his own medicine.
Sushil Singh, tortured and ruthlessly harassed female residents of Indira Nagar for many years. After having had enough from him, in 2005, the locals finally decided to raise their voice and retaliate in full force. The angry mob took a daring step of burning down his house , an attack which he stealthily escaped. Soon after, he surprisingly surrendered to the police for a different case to buy time. After his bail from prison, he went on to take revenge from everyone involved in burning down his house.
Later, when Sushil was being taken for his bail hearing to the Additional Sessions court, he met his ultimate fate. Around 75 to 100 people had nabbed and brutally lynched him in the court itself. However, police only booked 8 people for the crime.
In 2014, the court ruled in favour of the locals. The lack of strong evidence also led to the acquittal of these local attackers. Although, the court agreed to the fact that Sushil was lynched and the accused could have been present in the court premises on the said day,the prosecution however could not strongly establish their case.
This legal proceeding is a shining example of the impartial nature of our judiciary system where the final decisions are taken only on the basis of facts and compelling evidence.
